My Own Private Heaven
About five years ago, on my belly-button birthday, I went to Circuit City to get a
CD player installed in my truck.
It took a couple of hours to complete installation; I did what guys do while they
are at Circuit City, which is walk around goggle-eyed. It's a dangerous place
to hang out; if your husband is going to be standing around Circuit City for a
couple of hours, make sure that he does not have his wallet with him.
So I finally went home, listening to my new CD player in my truck, and suffering
from buyer's remorse - because, a few hours after I got home, the big truck from
Circuit City pulled up with this big honkin' HItachi Ultravision, DVD player, and
surround-sound with subwoofer.
And just imagine Ethel's suprise! Yeah, I think "suprise" is an honest - although
perhaps inadequate - description of her emotional reaction to finding furniture
rearranged, and several thousand dollars' worth of electronics taking up one
end of the room.
Tne funny thing is - I don't even
watch TV, except for college football and
the Weather Channel. But I do like movies, and we've got a good collection now.
And sitting in my Lazy Boy with my feet up, a fire in the fireplace, and some college
footbal on TV - well, actually, I don't suppose Heaven will be like that, because in
Heaven there won't be any fatigue to require rest, nor worries to want distractrion.
But in the meantime, this is pretty close :)
