My First Day On the Job

Today was my first new day at my new job.

No, this isn't my new office - this is the pool at the apartment building where
I am living, Ocotillo Village on McDowell Road, in Phoenix. At least, this is the
picture that is on the web site. I haven't actually seen it like that, yet - full
of Shiny, Happy People. In fact, since I moved in, it's been closed - something
about goo falling out of a tree into the pool and spa, and them having to "shock"
the pool. I don't know what "shocking" a pool means, but I don't think I want to
be in it while they are doing it, or anytime soon thereafter.

But after my first day at the office, I really wanted to go back to the apartment
and lay around the pool. Alas, it was not to be - Pool Closed until Further Notice.

So it was back to my lonely room - no Ethel, no Silas, no doggies - and then
make myself a bowl of clam chowder, eat some CheezIts, watch _The Art Of War_
with Wesley Snipes (JimBob sez check it out) and go to bed without swimming.

A new job alwahs involves stress, and this new job is no different. A move
to a new state always involves stress, and this move is no different. Being
separated from one's family always involves stress, and this separation is
no different. Being in Phoenix always involves stress, and this being in
Phoenix is no different :) But I still couldn't swim, dangnabbit.
