Is That Santa Up There On The Roof?
Yes - I'm new enough to the whole swimming-in-the-backyard-in-winter thing such
that I still think that it's neat, and had Ethel take a picture of Silas and I:)
As it turned out, though, it wasn't cheap getting the pool heated up for the
holidays. And it wasn't cheap trying to keep it warm, either - especially since
Ethel defines "swimming temperature" as 93 F :)
I have enjoyed the spa all winter long - and it's much more economical than
the pool. The problem with the spa is that it's a "gumption trap" - I may have
a lot of gumption in mid-afternoon, but then I sit down in the spa - and then
I keep not getting out of it. It's like a spamonster - it grabs my behind and
won't let go. (Obligatory BrokeBack comment - "why cain't I quit that thang?" :)
Before I know it, it's dark, and it's cold, and then I CAN'T get out of the
spa because I'll have to walk all the way over to the back door to get inside.
I've decided that I don't really like the pool as much as I do the spa - the
pool costs more to heat, and it takes a lot more work (even though I don't DO
the work, I do live with the woman who does do the work :) But that's right
now - ask me again in August :)
Meanwhile, while we consider moving closer to town, the question of "pool or
no pool?" keeps coming up. I'm all for a COMMUNITY pool - where I pay a little
piece of the cost, and do none of the work :)
