Esta Nublado (It's Overcast)
Here are Ethel and Silas on the trail in Sedona, during our hike in December.
It wasn't that vigorous a hike, although it took a while (of course, we were taking
our time - strolling, really :) Sedona is a nice place, although a mite new-aged, if
you take my meaning - as in, crystal-totin' organic-eatin' patchoulie-wearin' fufus,
who all go out to the Convergence to feel the spiritual energies.
DON'T do what I did. I shouldn't have done it - I just didn't think it would matter.
I was at the Sedona visitor's center, getting a parking pass to park at the trail
head for this hike (can trailhead be two words?) and a lady came in wanting to know
where the Vortex was. The nice, polite, and long-suffering lady behind the counter
gave her a map and said "Well, those who believe in that say that it's here...."
The Vortex-pilgrim asked, "Can you feel the vortex there?"
I said "Well, if you smoke what those folks smoke, then you can feel what they feel."
Vortex-woman said, "Oh, I've been to the one in Oregon, and there you can feel it
lifting you up..."
I got out of there quick, before I wound up smelling like patchoulie and bearing
the Vortex-gospel to the great unwashed.
